My Thoughts On: Slammed

Slammed - Colleen Hoover

I had been wanting to read a book by Colleen Hoover for a while. So, when I saw they had this at my library, I had to get it. I had heard so many great things about Hoover's novels. With a story line that peaked my interest and great reviews, I had to get my hands on one of her books. And let me tell you I was not let down. I loved Slammed, it was emotional, funny, sad, and heartbreaking. The beginning reminded me about the first Pretty Little Liars episode, not knowing their student and teacher. Layken was adorable, I loved her name. Will just sounded amazing. He was smart, responsible, and loving. Wouldn't mind meeting someone like him in real life. Julia, she sounded like a great mother and her story was heartbreaking. I thought she gave some really good advice to Layken, that even I could use. The poetry in this book was amazing. I for one can not stand poetry units in school, I just can't write, but I loved the poems in this book. It sort of inspired me to maybe try writing some of my own poems. Overall, it was amazing and a very quick ready for me. I read it in one day, I just couldn't set it down. I can't wait to read another Hoover book. :)

My Thoughts on: I Hunt Killers

I Hunt Killers - Barry Lyga

I couldn't get into this in the beginning. It was just slow for me, though I'm not sure why. But as I kept reading and got so far into the book, I just couldn't put it down. It sped up and was just like wow.  The book kept having me guess who the Impressionist was and that kept me interested. I just had to find out. I liked how Jazz was doing his best to not be like his father even though he thought he was just like him. I could almost feel his pain that he had. Overall it was a really good book. I'd give it like 4 stars.

What I Thought

Rats Saw God - Rob Thomas

I loved this book. It was funny and real. I think a lot of young adults would be able to connect with Steve and experience what he experiences. You follow Steve through family problems, first relationships and sexual encounter as well as trying to graduate, which he has to write a 100-page essay to be eligible to do so. Switching from past to present, Steve tells his story of how he ended up where he was. I thought his relationships were really cute and his first made me heartbroken. I'd have to saw that this was a pretty quick read overall but some parts were a little slow. Rob Thomas's story of Steve demonstrates teen angst perfectly, many young adults will be able to relate to Steve. So, I really liked this book I' give it 4.5-5 stars.

What I Thought

If He Had Been with Me - Laura Nowlin

I didn't really like this book in the beginning but as I kept reading I started to like it more and more. In the beginning I thought the characters acted younger than they were and that was really annoying to me. Something about them being freshmen and acting like 5th graders just didn't go so well with me. Though it was slow in the beginning, it sped up and I began to like it more. I loved Finny's and Autumn's relationship. I thought it was just adorable. I had always wanted a friend like that. I really liked Autumn's character later on in the book. I felt like I could relate to her a lot. In the end I liked it better than I thought I would when I first started to read it. I'd give it 3.5-4 starts (Sorry, I'm so indecisive!).

My Pinterest of all things Books

Book Clubs

I went to my first book club today! It was for school and the book was Legend by Marie Lu, which was an amazing book. I liked the club and probably continue going. I'm not a very social person so this is me trying to come out of my shell.

Pre-Orders

So I preordered the divergent trilogy set the other day and I can't wait to get it. I haven't read any of the books yet and I just can't wait to get my hands on the books. I can't believe I have to wait until like October to get them! Makes me sad but I'v heard so many good things about it, that it will probably be worth the wait.

New to Blogging

Hi guys! I'm Madison and I've been wanting to start a blog recently about all my thoughts and feelings on the books I've read and I came across this website and thought this would be perfect. I'm not good with words to bare with my posts and reviews. Please leave comments on what I can do better and what I'm doing well!

Truly, Madly, Deadly

Truly, Madly, Deadly - Hannah Jayne I liked this book. The drama, action, and mystery in the book made me like it more. I almost wish there was a little more romance to it but that's just because I'm a sucker for those romance novels. This book reminded me a lot about Deadly Cool by Gemma Halliday. Overall I thought this book was really good.
